Navigation difference?

What is the difference between the factory Navigation system and the "dealer installed" navigation system. Also are there any pics showing any physical differences? I'm just confused as to what the differences are and if their capabilites are different.

No difference between the two, other than you'll find the dealer installed more expensive. It's cheaper when factory installed. One problem, other than 2005 SLKs, the 2006 and newer SLKs don't have the navigation system wiring harness installed, even if you have the Command HK system. Per knowledgable sources, it would be cost prohibitive to install the wiring harness necessary without dismantling the car. With that in mind, get a top of the line aftermarket GPS system and save yourself the trouble.

Get an aftermarket one, the one that comes on the SLK is nothing to brag about. Just make sure you have the COMMAND, otherwise it looks very plain and boring with the audio 20
