SLK300 - Tire Pressure Sensors

I'm getting the wife's 2009 SLK300 ready for the winter by getting some winter rims and winter tires. My question is, tirerack has a good set that includes the tire pressure sensors already in the rim but i'm not sure if they are the correct ones. I know if two different types in which the actual sensor will tell you which tire is low on air and then there is the other type of sensor that just tells you one of the 4 tires is low.

So, I believe the mercedes doesn't have the TPS that tell you which tire is low but they pretty much just tell you if any tire is low.

Does anyone know and can help me out?

If you specify your year, make and model of car on TireRack they will tell you the TPM units you need. The set of 4 433 MHZ Sensors is $288 for my 09 SLK 350 and I assume they are the same for the 300. They only tell you a tire is low not which one is.

That is exactly what I did but I wasn't sure if they were some how different then the ones from MB. It is the same price for the SLK 300 sensors.

Did you have to take the rims back to MB to have them set the sensors to the computer in the car? How do the new sensors match up with the car after you get them?

I just had a set of the sensors from TireRack installed in my 17" AMG 171 wheels by a local tire shop. When I mounted the wheels on my 09 SLK it read the sensors without any problem. No dealer intervention required.

Mercedes TPMS do tell the control module which tire is low but only certain cars will tell you which tire is low in the instrument cluster. They have a display option that shows current tire pressures while driving. They will do just like your car and turn the TP light on when a tire is low but won't actually say "left rear tire low." You can use the dash display and see which tire is low.
