Extended Warrany on 07 SLK350

Hi all,

Here's my car info:
2007 SLK350
ordered Summer 2006
received October 2006
Mileage: 45k

I would like to get the Extended Warranty before I reach the 50k mile mark, and my next Scheduled Service is also due around that time.

Should I just go to my dealership and get the Extended Warranty, or should I shop around (if there's any such thing)?

Any feedback would be appreciated!

Thanks,
~shahedc

SLK55///AMG The MONSTER on the block
I recently purchased an extended warranty on my 2005 SLK 55 whose factoy warranty expired the end of December. The following was provided by a member of another forum.

Call Lisa Lehrbaum at Courtesy Motors (authorized MB dealer in Chico, CA) at 1-800-655-3535. They used to sell MB expended warranties for just a little over 50% off. Maybe they still do?

The following are my replies.

-1- I called Lisa yesterday in California. She was very helpful and offered better extended warranty plans than my local dealer. They offer extended warranties through Daimler-Chrysler and Mercedes-Benz EOW. Don't understand why they're separate. Price for the Daimler-Chrysler three year, 50,000 mile (total vehicle mileage) is $2990, 60,000 mile is $400 more. MB-EOW warranty seven year (not sure if total age), 75,000 mile warranty is $3690. Any comments or experience with either Daimler-Chrysler vs MB EWO extended warranties? Thoughts?

-1- I took Dolebludger's advice and purchased my entended warranty through Lisa at Courtesy Motors in Chico, CA (1-800-655-3535). I went with the MB ELW (extended limited warranty) seven year, 75,000 miles for $3590 including tax. Terms are somewhat misleading, total vehicle years and mileage start from day one at vehicle in service date. I'll actually have three extended years and about 67,500 miles. The price through Courtesy Motors was almost $1,000 less than what my local dealer quoted me. It's my first extended ever, for any product that I owned. I plan to keep my SLK 55 for several more years and the entended warranty will give me peace of mind and should be a good selling point should I sell to another individual. I hope my SLK 55 remains mechanically flawless and I never use the extended warranty.

-1- My SLK's in service date was Dec 29, 2004. Original warranty was for four year, 50,000 miles. The MB ELW (entended limited warranty) will start on Dec 29, 2008, and will run for three years (Dec 28, 2011), for a total of 75,000 miles. Bottom line, I'm getting three years, and approximatley 67,500 miles.

thanks for the info.

just 1 question: where are you getting this number?
67,500 miles?

(a) Did your car have 7,500 miles on it when you extended the warranty? So, are you counting the extra miles up to 75,000 miles?

Or

(b) does your new warranty only cover you up to 67,500 miles?

My 2007 SLK already has 45k miles on it, and I expect to reach 50k miles in Spring 2009. That makes it 2.5 years since the day I started driving it (Oct 2006).

The entended warranty I purchased is for seven years/75,000 miles. My SLK is four years old and had 7,500 miles when the extended warranty took effect. I've got three years and 67,500 miles remaining on my extended warranty. Extended warranty terms start from vehicle inception date, day one. If you purchased an extended warrranty now (7 year, 100,000 mile) you'd have a little less than five years and 55,000 miles remaining.

You're getting your moneys worth out of your SLK. Call Lisa at the above number and discuss extended warranty terms and prices with her.

he currently has 7500 miles in his car, that is why he's able to put another 67,500 on the car with in the next 3 years and it will still be covered by the warranty.

it's either you car get's to 75,000 miles or 3 years which ever comes first just like when you bought your car.

4 year/50,000 mile warranty, you're only cover until you reach one of the two limits.

speaking of extended warranty, I need to start looking into for my car too.
