New SLK Questions

I may or may not get the new SLK when it comes out. That being said, I just would like some info for my decision making process, that I choose to start now because of the extremely wide range of choices out there, and my abivalence towards what type of car I want. I am thinking about a Luxury SUV, Sport Sedan, and obviously the Sport Coupe/SLK.

EDIT: After browsing the forums more, I am also now considering a full size luxury sedan, except it would have to be used because of the price. Trying to keep it under 50k...

First, I have heard that the SLK will use "direct injection gasoline engines". What exactly does this entail? Will it finally be DOHC? Furthermore, the displacement of the 3.2 liter V6 will apparently be bumped to 3.7 liters. May I ask what the output of this engine will be? Is it the same engine in the ML350?

Next, it was mentioned in another thread that there will be a SLK200. I am assuming that this will be the new supercharged SLK to replace the SLK230. Will the output be increased from the current SLK230?

Also, I am curious about the transmission options. Most likely there will be some sort of automatic offered, however will it be the current 5-Speed auto or the new 7G-Tronic? Will it be offered with the current 6-Speed manual or a new one? Will an SMG type tranny be available?

Pricing... seeing how this would be my first car, this is of concern. I am assuming that the prices will be similar to the current SLK lineup, however are we expecting any radical change in pricing?

Lastly, release date... when is it for the US?

Obviously all of the above information is not yet available, however I am just throwing em out there.

Anyhow, thanks in advance.

Yes, I think everyone "may or may not get the new SLK." :p

I wouldn't say that the prices will be more than the CLK line-up. The CLK is supposed to be higher up in this order of MB cars.
