No joke. To my eyes, these cars are beauty queens next to a Z4.

I have seen pictures of a totalled Z4 that looks better than a pristine Z4 sitting in the showroom.

Anyway, I do like the new SLK better than my style and the SLK55 is awesome! I LOVE the exhaust and the sport kit And the interior is much much better However, after owning the SLK for a year, buying another would be a bad decision. I have had my car in back at the dealer 7 times in 13 months. But I think my biggest complaint is lack of a back seat. Obviously I knew this when I bought it, but I thought I would be fine with that. I mean, in 2 years of owning my Cougar I've only use the back seat twice (that's mainly because the "touch your dirty feet on anything and you die" rule was in effect for shows). But I miss throwing all my junk back there And I really miss being able to recline the seats!! Unless I completely BLOWN away when I see the 55 in person, theres a 95% chance I won't be getting another SLK. Most likely I'll be going for a sports coupe/sedan, and if it happens to be convertible, then so be it A quick, luxury, AWD, coupe would be perfection! :p But I guess I'll have to settle for less.

Maybe not worse, but just as bad. C'mon lets be candid. the Z4 is a design catastrophy. The 7, 5, Z4, and Alpina are tremendous visual disappointments. BMW has the X and the 3 thats it. And the way they are going those will be F'd soon too. This little SLK looks better than anything BMW can presently offer.

I don't know how many times this has been discussed, but there is no question the R171 will have an SLK350 model with the all new 3.5l V-6. It will produce 272 hp and 350 nm of torque - this is confirmed, no question about it.

Alpina? Are you talking about the Alpina Z8? If you are, I don't see how you can say that car is a visual disappointment. It looks pretty much like a regular Z8, which IMO is a gorgeous roadster. I actually think the Z4 looks alot better than its predecessor the Z3... at least not as girly.

I profoundly disagree. Surely you aren't seriously equating the Z4 to the Aztek.

Regardless, the Alpina Z8 is one of the most beautiful modern cars I've seen.

I surely am...the Z4 looks like a shoe, I think they modeled it after a Ford Festiva. The Aztec just look like GM tried to make an aerodynamic brick.

Not too many people shared your view on the Alpina, seeing as BMW scrapped it already....

aztek and z4 are both horrible looking cars
but i think another worlds worst is the PT cruiser and now that the convert. of that is coming out it just looks even worse

Amazing! I'll take the SLK over the Z4 any day!.

The SLK has better engines, and the interior is a lot better as well.

I guess we'll all have to wait till they actually start shipping to know how much better it actually is (performance wise) compared to its competitors.

hey guys I have a Z4 and if ur only talking about looks then I don't think i have much to say. some people thinks it looks nice some thinks its a piece of junk.
Anywayz what I'm trying to say here is if you've never driven a Z4 especially the 3.0 ltr one then take one for a spin and u'll be surprised.
I've driven the current SLK not the R171 cos its not out yet obviously, the boxster and the Z4. I personally like the Z4 very much cos its the quickest out of them all and the handling is superb cos the Z4 has the electronic steering system thingy ( i don't know the exact name for it). what that means is that when u drive at a higher speed the tension of the steering wheel tightens which makes the car easier to handle and more stable.

I have a C200K as well and to be honest I really don't like it cos the kompressor kicks in too late where as the BMWs the power comes as u floor it...however I will consider the R171 cos I think its a really nice car and the specs shows that its a more powerful car than the Z4.

1st, you're driving a Z4, you test drove a boxster S, both pretty bad cars....

slk32 would take you out any day of the yr, put aside the new slk55.

I currently drive a C32, and I could take out a boxster S without even pushing my car hard.........Z4? Hm.........

why don't u compare ur C32 with a lamborghini ? huh ? if u wanna compare ur C32 AMG with bmw then compare with the M versions of BMW. However BMW hasn't lauched the M version of the Z4 yet. If they do I bet it'll kick ur C32's *** any time.
So compare cars that are in the similar price range and class buddy !!!
and plus i didn't start talking about Z4 here first..
i drive both bmw and mercedes so take that !!

there is no such thing as an m4, the numbers dont go up with every generation

and btw, most enthusiasts will tell you that the M3 is a better "sports" car than the SLK32.

SLK32 is a droptop. M3 isn't. Don't tell me that cloth thing counts. Oh I'm biased

M3 is a better drivers car when compared to the R170, but the R170 is like a mini crusier with speed. Think of R230 bite sized.

The M Coupe is basically a Z3 with a hard top. Quite frankly, I was and will never be a fan of the Z3. I don't know why. Although, a while ago, I saw this random comparison between the SLK32 AMG and the Z3. The Z3 came out as the winner because is was the better "driver's car". I don't know if you'll agree with that, but that was what the program said.

Currently, theres nothing BMW has (in the same class) that can rival the SLK32 in terms of performance (I think I'm right?!). Comparing the SLK32 to an M3 is just slightly unfair. They're different types of cars aimed at different types of drivers. I do disagree with the saying "the Z4 and the Boxter S are both crap cars". That is just wrong. They are both very good cars, just that you don't particularly like them.

Last but not least, I hope that the SLK55 with leave all the competition in dust. The R171 will be an amazing car to drive. Congrats to those who have already ordered one!
