Customer just picked up a 2009 SLK55 AMG. We repaired and refinished the wheels, painted the calipers, and installed a KW Variant 3 adjustable coilover kit. Next visit we will be adding 10mm spacers and extended lug bolts.
First step: Wheel Repair. We got rid of that curb rash on all four wheels. Fortunately it was not TOO terrible.
Here you can see the minor to moderate curb rash on each rim.

KW V3 adjustable coilover kit allows you change not only how low your vehicle sits, but you can also adjust the damping and compression. The rebound dampening has 16 different adjustments, and the compression damping has 12 adjustments. By adjusting the damping of the coilovers, you get to determine the comfort of your vehicle. Whether you will be driving on track or on the road, you can adjust the comfort and stability that is right for your personal driving application.
OEM suspension components: You can see how differently the KW suspension kit is constructed than the factory parts. The coil diameter is much wider than the KW system.
In goes the KW coilover kit
Now time for paint prep! We sand and prepare the calipers for painting. During this step we take off all of the current caliper paint, sanding down to the metal of the caliper. It is very important to make sure no loose dirt or paint is left behind. This can mess up the paint and make the appearance less smooth and textured. You want a nice flat and clean surface before you apply the paint.
Rear brakes all painted, time for the paint to set. This step is CRUCIAL. The paint needs to set, we are careful not to bump or touch the paint at all while the paint is drying. We don't want any finger prints or bumps to the freshly painted calipers
Final product! Freshly painted calipers with AMG decals, and KW V3 coilover kit ready to be put to the test!
Wheels refinished and repaired. Calipers painted. Letting the car sit so the new suspension can settle. Very important to road test the car and let the new coilovers settle at their height and damping settings.
