Question Top Speed

I will be buying an SLK350 later this year when they are available in the US. I have a question though.
All the ad's that I see say that the top speed is electrionicly limited. Is there any software adjustments you can make to change that?
Since they need to limit the top speed I am going to go out on a limb and say that the SLK can go faster. How can that be done?

It might go a bit faster, but there's not much point in doing it in the US. Come to that, theres not much point doing it if you live in Germany either.

Many aftermarket tuners have software to remove or raise the top speed. Contact Renntech, PowerChip, Brabus, Kleeman, etc. Non-AMG cars sold in NA are usually limited to about 135MPH while AMG and cars sold in the ROW are usually limited to 250KPH (about 155MPH). The factory will raise AMG cars sold in the ROW to 300KPH but only at the factory.

Really? I thought they are all just limited to 155mph.

My C32 hit the limiter at 160mph. I only did it once and there isn't really any point in going faster than this as it dangerous on public roads.

If your SLK350 is limited at 135mph, then that would be annoying (though still pretty academic in the US). If its limited at 155, then an SLK350 with 270-odd BHP isn't going to go much faster than that, so its probably not worth the effort.

We picked up a US spec 2003 S500 at the factory last summer and found it very annoying to be limited to 135 on EU highways.

Thanks for all the info. I too thought the SLK350 had a top speed of 155 mph. The German version says 250kph which is 155mph.
Not that I feel the need to go any faster, I was just wondering how easy it would be to remove the limiter.
