SLK/R171: 2007 SLK350 thoughts / concerns / problems
I had enough of the troubles with my - waaay too cheap 1999 CLK320 2dr conv. had 172 miles, i just bought it in january and only had problems with it, but i don't judge. i knew what i signed up for when buying a mb for $2k

Was looking for a 2007 Z4 3.0si (i'm not ruling it out just yet) but then figured for a grand or two more i can get a SLK320-SLK350 same year with 5-digit miles which sounds like a good deal. (irrelevant note is that i want hard top and not silver or white)
I had a 2006 318i (e46) dad-101 before which i had no problems at all, so i do like the products of the Bayerische Motoren Werke, after having even the disastrous burgundy wonder mentioned above i'd stick to MB for the next few years.
can you tell me if the CLK350 (R171) has got any known major issues and/or what to check when buying and if a certified MB service can spot the problems that the vehicle can have? (i live technically next door to mercedes benz of beverly hills and california law says i have 24 hours to return the car to the dealer if i'm not satisfied)
i'm asking the above because the service in question last time only checked the things i mentioned them, though i must give to them that my clk looked like it had ALL the problems a car can have...
also would you, the community here be kind enough to check out the car if i post the link/VIN/carfax report of it before i even consider checking it out?
thank you so much in advance!
an example WDBWK56F27F155748 any thoughts?
i like this one's color a LOT but it's too far for me WDBWK56F35F057406 any time i checked this car today i was like "let's call a 'cab' and go"
i may do it on monday if you say it's game. there's a mb service 3 miles from it i'll let them check it out right away.thanks so much! i really want to have a long term good give-give relationship with my next little "sewing machine"

speaking of i love the sound of maserati/infiniti/porsche i don't like the looks of the first two, and there are only 2000-2002 porsches with 150k+ miles within my budget (is porsche the only make with boxer engine?)
Side note: I know I'm weak and if you just keep on adding a tiny bit more to the budget you end up with a mclaren for $200k but I saw a SLK 55 AMG for 15k (could probably get it for $14k) with 117k miles and am thinking about it since i never put in much to my cars but the milage isn't the issue. By the time i'd pay it off it'll be a 19 years old car. Luxury car still i know. Still 19 years old. I don't want to lose half the purchase price, i also don't want to spend half the purchase price on repairs. Thoughts?
sorry for bouncing it's 6am and i haven't slept since a while. peace!
