SLK/R171: Is this a chick car???

'Chick car' my a**
Pardon my asteriks, but F*** it– don't let the haters affect your enjoyment of a car. This whole 'chick car' thing is b***s***. From my experience, the rather sexist term is just something people who can't formulate a coherent argument trot out to denigrate a car they don't like, instead of using their head and rationally pointing out the flaws in a product.
I kinda liked the R170. It was a fun, little car. A little soft in its dynamics and a little pudgy looking for my taste, but by no means was it a bad product.
So what if a lot of women like a car: how does that diminish a car? Is a vehicle that women like somehow inherently bad? Does liking a car that's popular with women emasculate you? Women seem to love looking SUV's like the H2, G-Wagens, and Range Rover, as well as F150's and Silverados. Guess anyone who likes a big SUV or truck ought to go and turn in his Y-chromosome, too, then. Give me a break.
The new SLK takes the old SLK formula and looks like it adds exponentially to the fun factor with a serious engine and optional sports suspension. It's marginally bigger (a couple of inches, I believe), yet is far larger on the inside and in the trunk. While I haven't seen (or for that matter, driven) one in real life (yet) and styling is subjective (I know a lot of people who can't get past the R171's 'beak'), I think it'll be a great looking car and one that'll reward its owner with a lot of enjoyment.
Oh yeah, sorry for the rant.

It's getting embarrasing.....
Take a look at the subjects discussed in this forum vs e.g the E55 forum. There's almost no discussion as to performance on this forum. Martha Stewart would be proud of this forum. Oh ya, there's an article in the current month's car and driver that does provide some performance numbers for those who care about the driveability of this car rather than what color curtains to hang from the rear window.

love what you said.
I would choose pantyhose than bare feet.
