Sirius Radio in New SLK 350
Finally my ride hits port Oct. 2 (held up 5 days for hurricanes) getting SLK 350 opitioned out except AMG and Nav (I prefer my Garmin 2620 to move between vehicles and motorcycle), anyway, does anyone have experience with adding at the dealer Serius radio? Costs, antenna's? I understand it is prewired. Thank you so much. Enjoying the site.

Sirius...
I checked with my service rep last week, and he quoted me $1000 ballpark, which is highway robbery... but that's MB.
As far as the antenna goes, they hadn't quite figured out what to do with it (since mine is the first one they've dealt with... ). However, I worked in car audio until recently and Sirius has released a new antenna version that will work inside the car, without being mounted to a metal groundplate (like the old one). It's my intention to obtain one of these on my own if the dealer can't get one and make sure they use it instead of their own. Sirius antennas are all alike, so there's no chance it won't work with the MB electronics. Any good local car stereo shop should either have them or be able to get them for you.
and, BTW, Sirius rocks if you haven't experienced it. Well worth the monthly fee. I've had it in my VW since it was released on the east coast. Check out Mike Church on Talk Central (think that's 146) during afternoon drive time...
Take it easy, hope that helps...

Fee...
That's probably right, but at $1000, it should come with a lifetime script.
You can add this to just about any other car on the road for less than $200 through FM modulation, or replace the deck and add it in for true digital sound for less than $400...
Like I said... MB must stand for Million Bucks... but I can't complain... I knew what I was getting into.
After that year, the fee should be around $13 bucks a month. Right now they're running a $10/month special but I expect it to stick, so we should see an overall price drop.

Whichever one is available (1 of 5)
First year subscription for MB owners is FREE. I have a small Terk Xmicro antenna installed on my E500. Check out the Electronics forum and the E55 forum. I have posted pictures on the antenna. Where would you install the antenna on a SLK, I don't know. I had a guy in Atlanta installed the MB Sirius radio, integrated into my COMMAND system, and a low profile antenna on the roof for under $1,000.
