SLK/R171: 2006 slk280 AC not cooling fan works
ESP/ABS modules fried - damaged not speaking. "GO TO WORKSHOP" lit up on the dash. (read: as empty bank account and give to MB dealer).
Brakes were working fine - so I just let it go. ESP, who needs it.
Not finished yet: car was driving ok until the area near the newly discovered FLOODED battery box leaked water into the passenger carpet, shorted out something electrical in the process, produced volumes of this white smoke combined with a burnet electrical wiring smell - TWICE. Second time the cold AC stopped - just have a fan blowing hot air. Not the fan regulator obviously.
(will get to the other new problem of engine misfiring shortly)
Connected scanner up today with engine running - no codes for the HVAC or AC.. Compressor runs as it drags down the skipping engine when turned on. Just no cooling. My luck: center con$ole panel for the climate control module. Anyone have suggestions as to what to look for using the icarsoft scanner to get cold air?
Finale'. Engine skipping on multiple cylinders. What began as a small surge or lurch while sitting in drive with foot on brake evolved into multiple coil and cylinder misfirings. PO300, PO304, PO302, PO354, PO352, D409, 0998, 0637, 0652.
"primary circuit too low coil cylinder #2,
"control line to coil #4 open circuit"
These cars are built with the complexity of SPACESHIPS. Anyone recall back in 1970 when little 4 cylinder cars were 2000 pounds, sold for $2000, got 25-30 mpg? They were simple mechanical machines easy to fix.
Technological 'advances' had taken these little cars, stuffed them with computers, modules, relays, switches, etc, etc, etc, sell for $30,000 now, and barely get any better MPG economy.
The major difference is the purchase price - and the repair price, when out of warranty.
Trying to get the AC back cold again. Switches on dash modules seems to make the fan work, but something near the battery box went up in white smoke when it flooded. (German design).
Only thing near the battery is the multifunction sensor module....but not getting any DTC codes for it on the scanner. Just lots of references to the engine skipping, coils, etc.
I bought a new set of coil packs and plugs from RockAuto to put in after the skip. Money in the toilet. Solved nothing.

Remove modules and dry them too.
There is a drain rubber grommet on bottom near the battery that must be clogged.(must had found it) 😉
Your AC must have a leak. You can try to refill but...could leak again 🤷.Or try some leak stop 🤔
Good luck! Hope you solve your problems.👍
