M272v6 engines that were sold between 2004[1][2] and 2008 with engine serial numbers below 2729..30 468993 often show early wear of the balance shaft gears, requiring extensive repairs. I believe the M273 engine has issue as well. It has different engine series. Back some time before 2014 Mercedes settled class action suit or customers to get this repair done but it the statue of limitations has run out. Check to see if your seller has gotten this done. I have a 06 R350 that has had the BS replaced. I also have SLK350 that has not had the BS replaced. Have 61000 miles and no codes yet. Your can help the life of the BS by changing oil more regularly say 3k or so and not driving it hard regularly.

Mercedes M272 Balance Shaft Symptoms
A few symptoms of an M272 balance shaft failure include:
• Check engine light
• Fault codes
• Rough running
A check engine light will generally appear once the sprocket completely fails. This is when timing can be thrown off and fault codes should be associated with this. M272 balance shaft fault codes may include: P0059, P0060, P0064, P0272, P0275, and P0276. Additionally, incorrect timing will cause very rough running. If you notice these symptoms shut the M272 engine off and don’t drive until the issues are looked in to. If left alone the damage may become worse.

No balance shaft issues. Non wood wheel.
Issues are rear main seal and valve cover leaks...that's about it for the drivetrain. Make sure the top is in good working order and if it's a snowbelt car, check the undercarriage.
