SLK 350 - £350 tuning = 4.2secs to 60???!

From the r171.co.uk site....

"SLK 350 kompressor, to be available soon. Beat all AMG 55 easily with a 0-62 mp/h time of less than 4.2 secs, a top speed beyond 190 mp/h"

The tuning section of the site does not specifically say what the mods are. But in the store section it refers to remapping the ECU.

Now this is a huge performance improvement - can it be proven, how many SLK's have had this treatment, what are the penalities of the tuning?? does it damage the engine long term, what happens to fuel consumption, i guess any related issues will be not be covered by the MB warrenty.

I like the idea but i don't think i could be convinced to risk the cost of potential damage, if I could afford such a loss maybe I'd have the SLK55 on order.

Without going to the site to look for myself I havent a clue which mods are being questioned.

I have edited the original post to make it clearer.

The site is not that extensive and has some interesting options for the SLK - worth a visit for any present or future SLK owner.

not a shameless plug

If it were an ad, I wouldn't have been critical over the charge for their one touch roof opening dongle thingy - see my other posts!

..but yeah I am happy to plug any modders sites specifically tailored towards the SLK regardless of whether I agree with their pricing or not. I guess this makes me the typical yorkshireman, polite, wish others well, but i am a tight git! Unsure if you know about the reputation of the Scottish for being tight? but their not a patch on us Yorkshire folk!

I think the fact that it says 'kompressor' might be a clue. That suggests that a bolt on supercharger will be necessary, which means it won't be £350, more like £3500 (or more).
