Winter Driving

I just spoke to the dealer yesterday...my build date is sometime in mid-January, delivery in mid-late February. I live in Minnesota, and winter can go on until April.

Other than watching for some putz sliding into my MB, are there any significant concerns regarding the SLK's winter handling? Should I get snow tires? Any comments? Thanks for the feedback.

PS-I already asked if I could have the build/deliver dates shifted forward. Not possible, according to her. Kinda pissed me off, seeing as how I requested a late March delivery. Oh well.

You will need snowtires.

If you anticipate driving in any kind of snow or ice conditions the stock tires aren't going to work. We live in New England and didn't buy snow tires since we have the luxury of waiting till the roads are plowed and/or salt/sanded. Also when the ABS kicks in under slippery conditions, you are going to hear noices unlike any other MB ABS system.

Definite Must!

... and it's not only in ice & snow. When the road surface is cold (about 5C/41F or colder), the stock tires are way too hard. You'll have zero traction. I run Blizzak snows on my stock AMG rims in winter. Works quite well!
