Hello All,

Anybody get the extended warranty for the SLK55? If you did how much was it? I was told if you do not get the extended warranty at the time of purchase, it can not be purchased later. True or Fasle?

If you leased your vehicle, you may be offered a warranty if you decide to buy your car at lease end. There is a thread in the SL section discussing discounted extended warranties.

If you're going to keep your car, then get the warranty.

MB info says you have one year from date of purchase, but can't find where I read that.
My dealer rep said the same thing but would discount it (20% or better) if you buy the extended warranty when you buy the car.
I got it, love the car (and I have am known for NOT selling cars and other toys.....)

I got the extra warranty for my SLK 55 AMG. I do not know how long or when you have to buy it. A guy before my post wrote in less than a year. I guess because it is an AMG and parts are more expensive. My standard warranty was 4 years/ 48,000 miles and I got an extend to make it 7 years/ 100,000 miles. I paid $2950 for that extened warranty. Not bad, seriously it isn't. Think about it, the 6th year of your SLK 55 AMG and you pushed your engine a lot and finally your pistons or cyclinders are leaking. That will cost a lot to fix the car, and you will experience a lot more stuff. So the best way to go is to get the extended warranty only if you are going to keep it more than 4 years. Even though you will sell it on the 5th or 6th year, still get it. Makes the value of the car go up to, I think. I am not selling my car.
