locking and unlocking doors

I know this may seem petty, but when I lock and unlock the doors with the key, there is no audible sound to confirm that the command is done. I find it a little inconvenient to lock the car and have to look back to make sure the lights flash. We have a E-class and a Bmw 5 before that and they both chirped. Is mine working correctly? And if that's the way it is does anyone else find it a bit unsettling not to hear it chirp so you know your car is locked?

Yes it's working correctly and no it doesn't bother me...in fact I prefer the lights flashing instead of hearing an annoying beep or chirp.

slk55amg. I come to this forum because I love my car and the RESPECTFUL exchange of information regarding it. Not to be disrespected by a 17 year old punk! Maybe you should ask your dad about respect. Or maybe he could buy you some.

Thank you for your reply, Bigciti.

I'm not sure if it is the same for all models of MB but others on these fora have reported that the dealer has changed the settings on their cars to "Netherlands" which then gives an audible signal when locking and unlocking. I'm thinking about having it done the next time the car is in for service. I, too, would prefer an audible confirmation instead of having to look really hard in the Florida sun to see if my lights are flashing.

Hope this helps.

if you lock the car before moving too far away, you can hear the sound of the doors locking
