Paint defects in 2005 SLK 350
Hello to everyone! I just joined today...and I have a problem to share in my first post.
Bought a new 2005 SLK 350 and I hand washed it for the first time (first break from the rain this weekend here in the SF Bay Area). Car has less than 30 miles. The hood has about a dozen dime-to pea sized splotches in the clear coat. I looked at the rest of the car and it appears to be only in the hood paint.
Anyone else have this issue?? Of course, the Dealer said it is not a known MB problem and I have to bring it in to have them "evaluate" the problem. Does the Nonotech paint have a history of clear-coat splotches? It is almost like the clear coat reaction common in aftermarket paint jobs.
On the topic of Dealers...any feedback on MB of San Francisco??
Thanks,
Mike

On my car the AMG front skirt had defective paint.
They hurried the coats of paint and didn't let it dry long enough resulting in a little bubbling is a couple spots.
Brought it back to the dealer and they refinished the whole front end. This ended up being good for me since I went over a bump a little quick and scratched the bottom of the front skirt slightly - free fix.
