Anyone have issues with cold start fast idle issue?
2012 SLK purchased new and from the beginning revs up to between 1300-1400 RPM's for between 30 seconds to a minute on cold startup. If you are in a hurry and shift into drive to take off, you better have your foot on the brake (pressed really hard) or you will lurch forward like crazy. Almost scary. You can drop it into drive and then back into neutral quickly before it engages drive and it will then idle down. We have 3300 miles on it. The dealer says this is normal and does it to warm up the engine faster. I haven't seen a car rev like that since the old automatic chokes on old carburated engines of the old days.
Does anyone else have this issue with their SLK? Is this normal? The mechanic at the dealer said he went out and started a 2013 model and it did it too and therefore it must be normal on these cars.....

On cold starts, mine goes up to 1.2k RPM as well. I usually wait for it to drop down to 900 RPM before taking off.
It's perfectly normal for fuel injected vehicles to shoot in more gas on cold starts in order to warm up the engine.
