2009 SL vs. 2012 SLK

Wife is looking for a convertible and has found two possibilities that she likes - a 2009 SL 550 with 29k miles, and a 2012 SLK 350 with 16k.

Reliability data on consumer reports is spotty, so I figured the best place to get feedback would be on the forums.

The 2009 has been in an accident, but airbags didn't deploy, so I don't know how serious it was.

Any advice on these two - anything in particular to be concerned with or to look for?

Thanks in advance.

1. I would not buy any car that's been in any accident - big or small.
2. Whether SL or SLK, you would be wise to purchase a reputable extended warranty that covers the roof system, COMAND system, suspension, as well as the power train, etc. I believe M-Bz are superb cars, but I will not own one without a warranty.
Good hunting!

I agree. Don't buy the 2009 both because of the accident and for my money the SLK is a hell of a lot more fun.
The idea of an extended warranty is good too.
