I agree..to tell you the truth there are more parts that are interchangable between the two then not (i.e. same exact engine, trans, 90% interior, brake system, etc).
Here are some photos that show this :

Imitation is the best form of flattery. Even when it is from the same factory. I like it that the R170 platform can live on this way.

Nothing is wrong with it. I like the original trim of the R170 but it made it look like a pre-2000 car. The new trend in the 2005+ models they are going to a more metalic and black face style. Take a look at the R171 interior for example. I wanted to make mine look new and different from other R170 SLKs.

Sorry E-Klasse, I was a bit hasty with my comments. I thought you had replaced the SLK trim with Crossfire fake metallic trim but looking again at your pictures it appears you have used only Crossfire heater controls.
Your mix of aluminium and black looks good.

It looks even better in person. The Special Edition / Final Edition SLK trim in brushed Aluminum or Silver looks a lot better than the Crossfire trim that was described as spray paint. Thanks for your follow up post.

To be honest, I like the Crossfire. It's basically an SLK with sharper lines. Had the opportunity to check out an SRT-6 in person at the mall the other day and was impressed. AMG SC engine with a fresh, sharp look. Not bad at all.
