'04 SLK32 AMG
Recommended Options
Going in to order my car later today. Wondering if the
participants of this forum have an opinion on the
options offered. Additonally do you know what options/
accessories are specialized for the SLK32 AMG or just
plain Mercedes, and which are factory installed and
which are dealer installed.
For example: Lighted AMG Door sills. Real cool. Factory Only.
Reason I ask is my salesman mentioned the lighted door sills are
something the delaler puts on, and it seemed a little strange.
MB website says you can have the following options:
Lighting package (xenon headlights and washer)
Handsfree phone (V60 with VCS)
Phone
6 CD changer
Illuminated door sills
AMG chome exaust tip
Wheel locks
Floor mats
All season floor mats
Sunshade
Car cover
Mud flaps
Plus lots of wheels

None of the options are specialized for the SLK32. The designo packages available in '02 and '03 were somewhat different on the 32 but they don't appear to be offered in '04.
The only real factory installed options is the lighting package, xenon and washing system, phone, and CD. The others are accessories. The AMG Chrome Exhaust tip is not applicable for the 32 because it already comes with 2 of them.
The sills are cool and I'd recommend the all season floor mats as well.
I probably wouldn't get wheels from the dealer. Unlike in Europe where you get credit for the wheels that come on the car, in the US you do not. You can likely do considerably better buying the wheels from tirerack or some other place and then selliing the 17" split spokes that come on the car. I'm not sure if you order wheels with the car if they give you the split spoke ones or not. Check with your dealer.
