Factory Floormat Question
My wife recently bought me a second set of floormats from the dealer. They read "SLK32///AMG." My original set reads only "SLK" and is closer to black in color than the charcoal gray of the second set. All this makes me wonder if I originally received the correct set on my 2003 brilliant silver 32.
I'm at 3600 miles/9 months with no trips to the shop (other than to change out the grille to the SL-style at week one). If I got the wrong original mats, I'll mention it on my first service visit.
By the way, at about what mileage should I expect the first service? For 35 years I've been religiously changing oil and filter at 3000 miles. This new approach to service is taking a little getting used to. Thanks.

I just bought my 02 w/ only 4,000 miles on it about 2 weeks ago. I just noticed today (as the sun was shining on the mats) that my SLK32 ///AMG mats were also a slightly different color than the base carpet. I suppose it's possible that the AMG mats are slightly different, but I also thought it a bit strange. Doesn't look TOO bad, but there is a definite difference.
Regarding the service, I just upgraded from my first Benz (C230 Coupe) and I also found it odd that they wait 10K before oil change, servicing, etc. Since MB uses Mobil 1, and I have read a lot that agrees, I think it is OK to go 10K under normal conditions. At least I hope MB knows what it's talking about....
