Harmonic balancer/viration damper problem
I had an issue with the serpentine belt coming off. I replaced the belt, tensioner and idler. Idler bearing was bad, the belt was original so needed to be replaced. The tensioner was replaced thinking that was the issue, but after taking to dealer to have the immobilizer fixed they told me the belt was coming off and the tensioner was bad. I told them to leave it and I'll look into it. I got home removed the cover and fan and noticed the crank pulley was 1/4 inch further forward than all other pulleys. The belt their for doesn't ride true on the tentioner and overhangs plus causes lots of belt chirping. The rubber separating the pulley and damper appears to be intact and is not hard but it appears the pulley portion is slipping and moving toward the fan/radiator.
I'm 99% I have fould the problem, anyone else here have the same issue?
Also, it's a 2003 with only 25k miles.
