I have a build date in June for 2006 SLK55. I am strongly considering disigno Expresso Pkg. I consider the car a "luxury" roadster and feel the wood trim and other interior modifications w/ the designo pkg would emphasize this. However, as it already has napa leather in the stock AMG model (and there is no price break for this consideration I am still working out cost/benefit of upgrade to designo in the AMG.
I have not yet come across a post or picture of someone who as yet as obtained a SLK55 Designo - very interested in the forum's opinion on this.

Probably because they do not make the 55 in Designo that I'm aware of..

Did your dealer confirm with you that your car would be a 2006? If so, did they tell you if there would be any changes from the 2005 model and if there would be any increase in price?

Just curious as I just placed my order with a build date of May 10th and I never thought of asking if this would be a 2006 model.

The 55 is availabe with the Designo package (for 05 there is a choice of 3 different combos...not sure about 06).

Anyway, to the question.....if resale is a big concern. I would pass on the Designo package as you will not get very much of the $8k original cost back on resale.

I personally think the packages are extremely overpriced.

The leather wrapped roll bars sound nice though, I think they should be standard on the 55 to be honest.

Was told it was not an option by the sales monkey at the dealership but looking on the MB's website the Designo package is listed..

My dealership had told me that as of almost 2 mo ago all 2005 SLK55 for US had been allocated. @ time he was upset as his dealership (smaller one in East TX) had not received one 2005 slk55; despite my order being placed in 12/04. He states that put him,though, @ top of list when 2006 SLK55 were allocated. He just got word 3 days ago. His initial conversations indicated no substantial 2006 changes. Not sure yet on MRSP change.
I agree designo (definitely available in Expresso/Graphite/&Chablis) is a little hard to justify for quick resale. But, as I plan to keep as second "fun" car for a while - the wood trim & leather wrapped roll-bars seem quite appealing. Still would be good to here from someone who has or has seen a designo in either slk55 or 350.

The designo Chablis is not my cup-of-tea; But has anyone seen the Designo Mocha Black in this or another model? Would be interested in the opinion c/w stock black & metallic black

I've seen the mocha black on the S and CL.....looks very nice and understated.

Not sure how it would look on the small SLK.

They definitely have the SLK 55 in designo..I have the Chablis color and i LOVE it... it is very distinct... I can't find the pics I took..but I will post in a day or so.

Wow I just realized you said the first car was in Chablis....the color of the first car you posted look NOTHING like my chablis color. My Chablis color is a Champagne type color... not coppery..Maybe they give different colors the same name outside the US.. Here we only have 3 designo options.

DinDin; I am glad to hear that the "copper" SL pictured above is not the Chablis Designo. It looks nothing like the Disigno illustrative photos in the brochure. As I am considering "Expresso," have you been pleased with enhancements such as popular wood & roll-bar leather wrap? Sight unseen - it appears these vestiges would enhance the entire pkg of the SLK55 as a true luxury sports roadster. RoadRally98

I love the additions...the interior is a two tone cream/black colored leather. The wood is gorgeous and the roll bars look very good. Now if you are planning on doing interior mods (Brabus etc... as they can change anything you want)..then maybe I would advise against spending all that money on designo..I am in Seattle at the moment.. so I do not have access to my car to take interior pics, but I can do that when I get back sometime next week and post em.

I liked the expresso as well...I just was tired of having a dark car...so I went for chablis.

Dina; I still have about 3 wks to finalize order. Do think I am going to stay w/ Expresso Designo w/ 2 piece wheels. But wouls appreciate interior pics of your Chablis, when you have opportunity. RoadRally98

The 55 can be ordered with Designo. The Geneva car show a few months ago had one in the VIP room with a creamy designo package on it (interior, roll bars, exterior, etc...)
