I signed a contract today for a 2006 SLK55 / Silver/Black - My dealer has been trying to find a good allocation slot and finally was able to do so. They traded two allocations of other cars for and early 06 SLK55 slot.

TEAShea,

Did your dealer give you a date for this allocation slot?

Also, any mention of pricing?

Thanks,

JS

No word on pricing from Mercedes. I expect it to be close to the 05 price. My deal is for a certain amount off of MSRP.

Also, no specific date for an allocation slot but they think it might be produced in Sept.

WOW, that is a great deal. I'm paying MSRP and that's pretty much the going rate on the SLK 55 that I've been hearing (maybe they'll throw in some mats for free )

Same with the deal I am working on here... 55 at MSRP no discount.
The only wiggle room I have is with my trade-in so that should be a fun negotiating experience.
I am also hoping to get some accessories thrown in... gunning for the windscreen and all-weather mats

jd,

Windscreen would be a good one. I'll ask for that as well and see what they say

When are you expecting your car (build date or delivery?)

By the way, are you in Vancouver, B.C. or Vancouver, Washington?

joe,

May we both garner this pittance from our respective dealerships as consolation for having to pay MSRP

The most specific time reference I have been given up to this point is that the build date is in the first half of June with delivery during August if not the end of July. It has also been confirmed as a 2006 model.
When is your build date?

I am in Vancouver, B.C.

jd,

Haha, yeah, I'd be happy with some AMG mats and the windscreen from my dealer.

My build date is scheduled for May10th and my dealer said I should see the car early July. Unlike you, I'll probably be getting one of the last 2005 models. I've contemplated holding out for a build slot for a 2006 but with such little allocation and spotty allocation spots, I didn't want to risk missing out and perhaps waiting another 6 to 9 months.

Any thoughts on mods? Since you're up in Vancouver, B.C., if you look into wheels, be sure to check out Harris's location. He's been great answering questions on this board

Joe,

I was actually trying for a 2005 build slot initially and was told by every dealership in the area that it would be impossible since all the spots had been filled. Luckily for me one of the salesman I met phoned me about a week later and was able to give me an allocation that was formerly reserved for someone else who subsequently requested a later build date. At the time he was unsure whether June production would be 2005 or 2006 but it has since been confirmed as '06 -- happy coincidences and I will still have a little summer left after I pick it up!

Been debating the mod question already and I think I will either:

a) work on aesthetics only
(e.g. wheels/tires, interior trim, hopefully someone will come up with an air diffuser add-on for the 55 rear bumper, possibly replace the lip spoiler with something more aggressive that will flatten the rounded trunklid a little more than the AMG piece)

or

b) go insane and call Kleemann.

Harris and Harmon are definitely on my shopping list up here. I have also had past successful dealings with evosport in CA.

Are you planning any mods?

jd,

The only thing I'm thinking at this time is wheels (19"). However, I'm planning on putting a few hundred miles on the car before I decide to stay stock or go aftermarket. I'd like to get a feel for how the ride is with the stock 18" wheels as I have heard it's pretty stiff already.

If I do go aftermarket and bump up to 19" wheels, I'm pretty much set on the Brabus MB VI.

JS,

Oh very nice choice.... I have attached a picture of it for those too lazy to look it up

I agree about getting a feel for the firmness of the suspension and ride comfort before committing -- though if I were to go for aftermarket wheels, I would definitely upsize. I think even Harris said in another thread that the seat-of-the-pants difference between 18" and 19" would be minimal... I would like a size (wheel and/or tire) that would not require fender rolling though.
