My 2006 Clk 500 Cabriolet foglight (same as Slk 55 foglight) both side lens crack within 1 month after I the dealer replaced the passenger side at $350 !!! I decided not to replace it anymore because it could crack again at any time.

Drivers Side First 1year

I think the issue is the Glass material used is to thin for this use. They lasted about a year. Someone had a post awhile ago about a plastic replacement but could not find it.

I'm doing some major mods on the front of the car. So not to worried. Cheers the Buddha

I had the same problem on the C55. I used the fogs occasionally, but one day it was randomly broken... not like it had shattered, but almost as if a piece was cut out with a glass cutter. I have never scraped the front of the car or damaged it otherwise.

The driver's side has broken twice now on mine. I haven't replaced it again. Mine too is broken like a glass cutter was taken to it in a perfect circle.

Mine still haven't broke. Knock on wood. I never use my fog lights... well maybe once or twice.

How many of you that have experience a break, use your foglights often? Perhaps there's a correlation.

I wonder the same question, mine is still in tack, but I never used mine, I wonder if it breaks easily when heated?

Exactly, not designed well enough to handle the heat-cool cycles.

20+ to list......
Damn, sorry to hear the foglights failing on some of you. 5 months since I took delivery, no problems, only use them in the rain along with parking lights & side markers (Knock on wood). If they do break, I'm getting the mesh grill from a black series and put them on.

My driver side fog light has cracked. The light itself works. Do I have to replace the whole assembly or just the cover. Does anyone have a price & part#

Thanks in advance

About 6 months ago I noticed passenger side glass lens had a circular crack. Recently I drove through a work zone that was undergoing repaving and now the lens has that area knocked out. Probably the same reason for the initial crack.

left fog light lens broke on my 07 slk55

Was washing my 07 slk55 last night and noticed the left side fog light lens is broken!!
My fog lights only come on when I unlock the car. Guess I should be happy they lasted this long, NOT!

I found some online for $65.00 each.. may get one and do it myself.

May call the dealer but I am sure they will say not covered under warranty!

Mike

I've had my car for more than 5 years. Early on I broke 3 lights, but then I found clear plastic covers on the internet for both the headlights and foglights...no more problems for several years now. Sorry, but I can't recall the name of the product nor the website I bought them from, but Lamin-x.com may be the product I bought or something similar.
