Sirius antenna in front hood grill
I just got my '05 SLK55 back from having the Sirius receiver installed. The tech did what I asked -- he installed the antenna (a smaller, magnetic one) in the left hand hood grill. As best I can tell after abt. 30 minutes of driving around, it works perfectly. Completely invisible, of course.
Antenna can be mounted (e.g. double stick tape, silicone) to the plastic tray that is underneath that grill. Wire runs back thru the fuze box, firewall, and rear bulkhead to the receiver.
I am in a large city (Dallas) and I don't know if Sirius has a terrestrial repeater here (XM does). If so, this antenna location might not work in rural areas. I go to such places from time to time and I'll post a note if I find it doesn't work.

Would you tell us about how much you paid. I was interested in having this done but thought I had to have someone imported to do this - my dealer will only drill a hole in the trunklid. Thanks.

Lisa, I had the same thing done on my Coupé.
I had it done at MB Werks in San Diego, and other than buying an external SIRIUS receiver (antenna included for $100 minus manuf. rebate), only cost was 1 hour labor (~ $75).
If SIRIUS is integrated into your head-unit, then all there is to do is run the antenna as Leef described.
