Dealer Markup

I stopped at Calstar Motors in Glendale to look at an SLK55. I was shocked to learn that they marked this car up $25,000. I knew then that would never buy a car from them, but I wonder how many dealers are doing this. Have any of you paid over MSRP?

Pardon my stupidity but....when you say MRSP you mean base price or price (MRSP) plus options (i.e. Airscarf, X package, etc).

I always get confuse with posts that state pay MRSP or bellow MRSP....but if the car has ALL the options, I imagine it can be MRSP.....right?

Please, help me understand.

MSRP is exactly the price the car comes out to, including options, on the MBUSA's car configurator. Not many dealers will offer below MSRP since you're ordering exactly what you want.

Thumbs up

If you look at posts from a year ago, when people were first getting their cars, you will find that there were some who just kept going at it, not being on a list or anything, calling different dealers until they found one that gave them one of the SLK55 they had in stock for MSRP. If your dealer tries to tell you that you must pay a mark up to get the car, just keep shopping.

I talked to both dealers in the Austin area and neither was charging a markup. I would not pay a markup since so many dealers are willing to sell at MSRP.
