2005 SLK 55 AMG, 2006 E 55 AMG, 2007 Acura MDX
I agree. I don't think there were more then 1000 SLK 55's sent to US for this year. There are two major dealerships in Seattle area. One of them was mine and my car was the 3rd SLK 55 AMG for them. The other dealership, were I was number 6 on the waiting list, promised me a car around March of 2006.
Even more to this story, when I visit CA last month, the Mercedes-Benz of Newport Beach, had loads of AMG' (at least 8-9 SL55's), but no SLK55. When I have asked why, one of the salespersons, started to whine about how rare these cars are. It is really odd to miss a 60,000$ car, but have a parking lot full of AMG's and Maybachs.
I just received my car 2 days ago and I am almost speechless with the combination of the performance, looks, convenience and convertible in one product
. I feel that this is the absolutely best bang for the buck for over 60,000$ category in US.
My best wishes to all owners on this thread.

SLK 55 AMG
Back when the SLK32 AMG was being produced, AMG supposedly made 2000 a year of them, with half the sales going to the US. At the end of the production run which lasted less then three years, about 5000 were built.
I think I saw somewhere a similar a number for the SLK55 AMG, with half (1000) going to the US. hmmm

Now that the 2005 model year is winding down/finished, does anybody know how many 2005 SLK 55's were produced worldwide? And of that number, does anybody know how many were for the US?
As I've posted before, I'm shocked on how little allocation my two local MB dealers got. I know that the number they are allocated is based on their historical sales. However, I live in a pretty large city with two somewhat large MB dealers and since December of last year when the first 55's were arriving, they will have delivered a total of 5 or 6 2005 SLK 55's (including mine). That works out to be about one car per dealer every 2 to 3 months. That just seems like such a small number of cars for a price that is not out of this world (we're not talking about $400k+ SLR's).
Don't get me wrong. I like the fact that the SLK 55's will be pretty rare, I'm just suprised that the production was so limited. Being new to MB and AMG's in particular, is this pretty normal (compared to SL55's, E55's, etc.), or was there some production issues?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
