When will the SLK get new AMG engine?
Is it in 2006 as 2007 model? I wonder if it will get detuned 6.3 engine....

maybe 2007 .... maximum 3 years it will still have the 55 .... however, when it comes out, i might swap ... the 55 for the 63 ...

I think the slk 55 will still have the 55 engine tuned to 400 - 410 hp . . .

this what I have read on germancarfans website

Yup, I believe that's the case as if the little 171 got the monster 6.3 it would be faster than the E's CL's and S's and that MB would simply not allow...

i would assume this to be true as you are only king for a day in the performance world. look at what bmw is doing today and the next couple of years. eveyone else will now have to follow.

BenzWorld has a post which references an 7-21-05 Edmunds article which suggests that all lines (minus the A-class) will eventually get the new engine. My guess would be that the '08 SLK will get it, assuming that the restyled SL is previewed before then.
