popping noise

I really hope someone can help me with a problem I've been having recently. Everytime I turn into or out of a driveway, and turn my wheels to the left, i hear a "Popping" noise from the bottom of the car, to the left. Anyone have any ideas what it could be? It doesn't always make the sound either, only when I'm making a sharp left turn or when I'm turning into or out of a driveway.

Any advice/help you could provide will be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you have a clearance issue, i.e., your driveway is on too steep of an incline and thus when you roll out or in you or scraping the bottom or front lip of your car. That's all I can really think of.

At first, I thought it was a clearence issue. But the popping noise only happens when I turn into or out of a driveway by turning left. When my wheels turn RIGHT into or out of a driveway, there is no popping noise. Weird, eh?

SLK55 on the way... (S2000 for now)
could this be caused by the corner lights turning when making a left turn?

Try checking the steering stop bump on your lower control arm. I had that happen on a CLK55 I had. The bump stop was a little more pronounced on the one side. It would rub and then snap/pop (as the control arm moved) on the sharp exit of my driveway.I just put a little dab of heavy grase on it preiodically. Noise went away when lubricated. Just my .02.

He has an SLK55 which doesn't have "corner illuminating" foglamps.

And the "corner illuminating" foglamps on the SLK350 do not actually move, anyway.
