I have it as well. No difference in reception or operation at all, and it looks 100% better and looks 2005 OEM.

Twist and turn, if you can't do that yourself, then we have a problem. $55 bucks w/ tax where I'm at, not expensive at all, price may vary at your location. Not recommended, it's rubbery, paint will chip off if you flex it a little. I thought about painting it myself but it looks fine just the way it is, painting it will definately look alot better but I doubt (I could be wrong) that the paint will stick.

I've heard that one takes alot of work to install, you'll have to take out the rear bumper to install the amplifier otherwise it doesn't work well. Stick with the r170 antenna, twist and turn, 50 bucks, done.. can't get any simpler than that.

Your are not the only one, I think somebody else from Florida had to paid around $100 for it. It might be cheaper if you just called Glauser MB here in Colorado and have them ship it to you.

I just ordered this from teh CO dealer. It was 57 bux but has to be thrown into the Rhine river and float to Colorado. Then they will throw it into the Colorado river and somehow it will make its way to Houston.

I told the parts guy that this was posted here and to expect a number of orders. I was the second this week.

Dinko was probably the first, what I don't understand is, there's suppose to be a MB warehouse that stores the parts, it should be the same price everywhere since most of the dealers get it from the same place, I can't imagine them marking up the price this much to make a profit, shame on the dealers.

Spoke to Tom at your dealer's parts dept. and he gave me a additional 10% off. I also ordered the Garage Door Opener unit with this. Thanks a lot for your help!

Just been on to MB - they quoted £20.09 +VAT (so about $45USD). Just out of interest has anybody compared the performance of this stub antenna against having no antenna at all?

Tempted to buy this part but still not sure - I mean there must be a reason why MB fitted the ugly 'whip-like' one on a brand new model, mustn't there?

MB have just got back to me and advise that the A170 820 0675 antenna is design principally to be a car telephone antenna. They have concerns that COMAND/radio reception may not be as good with it fitted - also they are not sure that TMC (when it arrives here in England next year) may not work.

Just ordered (hopefully) the part.
The problem is that as of yesterday, only 4 of these were showing as available in Germany.
I'll know either Monday or Tuesday if there is one left for me.
Guess we'll have to wait and see.

I'm not too sure about car phone, I don't have that option so, it doesn't apply to me. But this antenna does affect radio reception, if it didn't most of us will take it out completely. It's an eye sore.

That's one of the problem, the other is that since this is a r170 antenna and r170s' are discontinued, how much longer will they continue to make it. Or they might figure out that it works for the r171 (MB might already know(?)) also and just change the part number to r171 xxx xxx.

I show 100 in Germany now so there shouldn't be a problem in filling your order. Just bare with us as parts from Germany take awhile to get and are kind of sporadic. We should have a couple coming in on stock with your order also.

My question is where did you find this part???? For the life of me I can't find this in any cataloge. Thanks

Just to show "it all depends..."

On Porsche's new Cayman S the exterior long whip antenna is an option you have to pay for AND it's on the front ( right fender near the windshield)!
