Has anybody purchased and had installed the official Ipod/MB integration kit? I am specifically wanting the docking facility fitted within the centre armrest and NOT in the glovebox. My MB dealer has quoted me £500 (~$950) for the kit and installation! Has anyone got photos of the dock in this position or experience of installing?

the parts in the US were $500 and the install will be between $100-$150
My I-pod is docked in my center console (lower part). Controls are via arrows and phone controls on the steering wheel. I-pod is naviagated via the small screen in the speedo. No i-pod info shows up on the command screen.

same here.. my dealer said about 600 for the install.. and you should put the ipod in the centre is you can..because its a pain to find a song or a set of song using the buttons on your steering wheel..but you can also just take off your ipod.. find the song that you want or a list or something that you want..play it first on the ipod..and then plug it back and thats what the car will play.. if you want convince you can also look for the harman kardon ipod kit.. that one comes with a screen to display all your ipod info as well as it comes with a scroll pad like the one on the ipod and works like the one on the ipod.. and its cheaper as well..

Had my MB iPod kit for a couple weeks and I love it. =)
SQ is superb, 60gb of music, only strange part is the Nav system display isn't used, instead it puts the song on the display between the speedo and tach. Good for keeping your eyes closer to the road though.
Was installed for about $600 total. My dealer actually picked the car up from my house, dropped off a loaner, had the work done and brought it back.
