As planned, I had my vertical doors installed on Thursday and took the B55 to the Crystal Cove exotic car meet in Newport Beach today (Saturday). It was an absolutely beautiful morning with at least 200 cars and 2000 people there. I got there early and parked the R171 in a prime spot. It drew an incredibly large amount of attention. People just could not stop asking about it and taking pictures of it. I felt proud to own an SLK.

Best of all, I got to meet fellow forum member and SLK owner etyu at the event. It was awesome to finally meet someone from the site and to see their SLK in person. Those of us in the So Cal area really should get a group of SLKs together and park them in a line. THANKS etyu!

If you ever wanna meet up early on a Saturday and cruise down there, let me know. I live in Turtle Rock by the way...here's my car (at Crystal Cove funny enough)

nice to see them wings flapping. so how do you like the feel of the hinges?

The driver's side hinge has been fine. Very smooth. I did have to get the passenger side hinge replaced because of a loud noise it was making. They were great about it though and replaced it while I waited. Now both doors are very smooth and silent. The SLK has very heavy doors. I think this creates an installation headache for them. I have had the new hinge on the passenger side for a week now. Everything is going well since then.
