I raced a slk 55 from the lights, i fluffed my start (i should have launched with 4000rpm instead of the 2000 i did) so the car baulked before starting to pull.
The slk launched with no wheel spin and immediatelly pulled out maybe 2 car lengths, his 1st-2nd change was awesome seeeming to take no time at all, i was starting to gain slowly as we crept up to three figure before we shut down.
I was 4-up he was 2 up, we both gave the thumbs up and parted as friends!

I was very impressed with the 55 as I have spanked many cars up til now (Audi RS6 saloon, RS4 estate, 2 x M3`s). I just wish for a return match.
I will launch it properly.

As for SLK55 vs M3, the ease at which i kill euro spec M3`s points to the 55 being easily faster.
It must have been someone's grandmother driving the RS6

Well, nobody in my S7 yet. BUT, just ran a black C6 Z06 from 65 to about 130 mph in the RX-7. I pulled him by 1 to 1.5 cars.....3 different times. Man, it was REALLY close but, an absolute blast (4 lane Hwy - clear lanes - nice cool evening for my turbos). The RX-7 is putting down closer to 390 rwhp nowdays, but that guy has got to be wondering what just happened to him. I'm sure he's going to quickly invest in some mods to sharpen his Z's teeth a bit.

I'll have to run the S7 vs. the RX-7 to see which is quicker next month when my bro comes to visit. Should be a good race. See ya Jesse.

PS - your new Blower working OK pal?

My Bad... But even so a 996 takes roughly 18 sec to 200kmh...withe the RS6 taking the same...if a slightly bit slower...the comment stil stands that a 996 with a good start could beat a stock rs6...

I'm shocked. Someone on this site who can accept being corrected on something! Thumbs up, Falco.
Interesting too. I guess you're right, but the carrera driver would need to be in a stick and not mess up a shift. When they're rollin at about 70mph the RS^ would probably win, don't you think?

My mate has a tuned his gray RS6 to just over 600bhp and he ran my stock 996TT. Fair to say he had the edge on me! However, he couldn't keep up on the twisties.

How do you find your 55 around the bends? I left one in my S4 up Mulholland. He was trying his hardest but I freely admit the guy driving it left a lot to be desired. I think clueless is the word!
I've heard the SLK55 pulls like crazy and I wouldn't race one expecting to win on a dry freeway that's for sure.

Nice choice of car. They look great stock. I like the stock multi 18"s but they look even crazier with the 65stylr 19"s and brake performance pack.

I was behind him at around 80 about 3 cars back, we were stuck behind a slower car on the motorway, the car pulled in and we both gunned it (I was in third). As I changed into 4th I was on his rear bumper.

Small frontal area and superior aerodynamcs and lighter weight. Try pulling a manual 3.6 from high speed for yourself

I have to put them in check. There's seems to be alot of professional drivers driving those M3's.

Anyway, alot of ppl seem to think the 'K' in SLK means Kompressor and have yet to challenge me, although alot asked me, "how fast it is" even though I don't have a SLK55

Jesseliu: with the Renntech badge, I doubt if you will get any challenges ever. Most ppl know the power of AMG.
I'm racing a stock M3, Chev Lumina SS (Holden Monaro) with bolt-ons and an M6 this coming Friday. Video and possibly Vboxing will be done

Hey, if im wrong, im wrong!!! no harm in that! And yes, RS6's with just a chip can easily be 530+ hp and tq and with a few more mods 600...and those babies move!!!

The SLK55 is not bad at all in the twisties...ive outrun my fair share of cars...that said i had a 996C4Cab prior to this so I would have trouble saying any car ahndles great after driving a C4 for 3 years!!!

Good man. yeah his RS6 is mad. The kid has a load of cash but loves having what he describes as the ultimate sleeper. He debadged it and blacked out the chrome, but otherwise left it looking stock. Yeah he said he had to change fuel pump and other stuff as he originally chipped it to 510 and left it but changing to 600bhp he needed some changes as he didn't want any problems. And he hasn't had any. Cruisin with him is great, though Fezza drivers get insanely pi££ed off!

I had the same problem as you.My last car was a 996 too. Them things are unbelievable. I fancied a change though and wanted something a little less conspicuous but still rapid in a straight line. The S4 handles pretty well, but it's no Carrera with 295 rear tires gripping the tarmac.

How do you find the straightline power of the 55 compared with the 996? was it a manual? What speed did you take her to? I saw 170mph in mine before my bottle went!

By the way, I can't wait for the new RS6. They say it's a 5.2V10 twin turbo putting out 550bhp, but it hasn't been confirmed. I'm not a modder myself so that's my big hope for the ultimate AWD sleeper!

Take it easy bud and keep enjoying putting the hammer down on those who dare take you on!

The straighline power of ths SLK55 is amazing...definitly better and more intense the the 996 or the 997! My C4 was a manual...got her to 164 once with 1 passenger and she had more, just ranout of room!!!

I has a 01 S4 prior to th C4, so i am an audi fan also! The new RS6 looks to be awesome!!!

You keep cool also!

If they source the motor from Lamborghini, it wouldn't need turbos to reach 550 hp. The Gallardo 5.2 V10 is putting out 500 already. Twin Turbo's on that motor would make things very interesting for Audi.

racing a C55 was the most fun, he had no chance from the line but high-end it was pretty even.

elbow... what kind of rims are those? My father wants to buy the new Porsche Turbo ( i test drove it, NICE btw ) but made him wait till he testdrives an SL55 or SL65 ! those rims would look sick on my slk55

The word is that Lambo don't want Audi using the 5.0 512bhp NA version of the engine which is the way the S8 was bored out to 5.2 producing better torque but "only" 444bhp. Same for 429bhp S6.
It's all conjecture at the moment but using the last S6/Rs6 as a basis would suggest TTing the 5.2 is ehat they're going to do. It'll be a flying machine if they do so. AWD won't noticeably sap power when there's that much hp so it'll be interesting to see just how quick the new RS6 will be.
I'm getting on the list the minute I am able to.
