2007 differences
I've caught on that the shifter paddles are new in '07, but are there any other things that can be had on an '07 that weren't available on earlier models?

don't believe so
Not that I'm aware of, at least compared to a 06. I don't believe the 030 package was available 05.

I think that the Illuminated Door Sills are a new-for-2007 item, aren't they?

And of course there probably were available color changes between MY06 and MY07 -- anybody?

do these come standard or as an option? I thought they were always an option?

The illuminated door sills have NOT always been an option on all of the AMG models -- may still not be an option on ALL AMG models.

If I am correct in my recollection, MY2007 was the first year that MBUSA offered illuminated door sills as an option on an SLK55....

And I would still guess (haven't checked) that exterior color options - and possibly interior color options as well - have been changed for MY2007....

Nope. Illuminated Door Sills (both base model and AMG versions) were options when I ordered end of 2004 for a MY 2005 delivered in May. However they were (I think still are) dealer installed, not factory. My dealer talked me out of it, with their labor cost (quoted 6 hours!).
