For Mercedes cars you need to know that the dealer pays about 5% less than the invoice, and there is often cash paid to the dealer as an incentive. You can see the invoice and incentives at Edmunds.com. When ready to purchase, get your financing in order, and go to the dealer. Don't speak to any salesman, but put your deal directly to the sales manager. If he says no, let him know there are 299 other dealers that want to move a unit. Leave your number, he might see he needs an extra sale to get a bonus and call you. I do it this way, and often have messages on my machine before getting home.
Thanks for this buying tip. I just need a clearer action plan.

The salesman dealer quoted to me over the phone.
SLK 55, Mars Red, Black interior
Premium 3, Lighting pkg, AirScarf, Ipod: for $69,xxx

I checked mbusa.com
SLK 55, Mars Red, Black interior
Premium 3, Lighting pkg, AirScarf w/ Ipod ($375): for $69,585

I checked edmunds.com
SLK 55, Mars Red, Black interior
Premium 3, Lighting pkg, AirScarf: for $67,245, and invoice is $62,592

Questions:

How much should I offer to dealer with the above car?

If I custom order direct from factory while going through the dealer, how much should I offer?

The other things I want added are Ipod integration and the plexiglass windscreen.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.
