On my Swiss SLK, it's just in the menus that you navigate to via pressing the leftmost steering wheel buttons. Maybe it's not available on Australian SLK's...

Your manual 'should' mention it if it's available.

On my '05 in the US, you have the option of displaying temp or speed at the bottom of the display (below the gear numbers). Whichever one you choose then the other item is displayed in the submenu under the Odometer in the top of the display.

Ok

I think mine is the same as bioflin's - I have speed displayed on the lower speedo - and when selected with the 'menu' and 'arrow' buttons on the left-hand side of the wheel - temp comes up on the upper screen.

The only time I have ever seen speed on the upper screen is when I engage the cruise control - and then it flashes up the exact speed for 5 seconds or so and then reverts to whatever it was showing (nav arrows, radio station, iPod track etc).

Hmmmm...

I wonder why they'd change this between markets - the speed readout on that Utube thing is SO clear you could read it from a Highway Patrol Car from behind!!

Um - hey maybe it isn't such a good idea after all....

Only kidding!!!

Cheers,

JD

On my car, the digital speedo will indeed be up on the top screen, while temperature is on the bottom one. If I engage the speed limiter, it will appear on the top screen for 5 seconds to show you what speed you've set it at, and then it moves down to the bottom screen right below the temperature reading.

I think there was mention that some settings are not allowed in some countries, so some of the readings are inverted and on a different part of the LCD display...

It's just the way it is I guess =\

Looking for a new toy.
Mine (Canadian market) can be set the same way Shinigami described - that's usually the way I have it. It's real convenient to have the speed displayed high like that - easier to tell at a glance than the speedo I find.
