SprintBooster

Okay just installed it and I got to say I love it. While it might seem a bit for difficult to modulate ... I feel that its something that just takes a little time to get used to. I took off the sneakers and went to more of driving shoe.

My initial take is that because we use a 7 speed tranny, that we can't reset manually, this allows you to program the tranny as if your driving the car hard all the time. This makes the car shift faster and hold gears longer. This throttle response definitely seems improved. I have a car with a lot of HP and torque but if the tranny programming is slow (from driving in traffic etc) the throttle response is definitely slower. It takes a few hard runs to get the tranny to be in more aggressive mode. With the Sprintbooster I'm in aggressive mode all the time.

I can't believe a few wires makes such a big difference. This mod is only a couple hundred bucks ... DO IT!

Now as to where I purchased the SprintBooster ... I got from SLKfans and I'm glad it finally arrived. It did take a long time and there was some confusion on the shipping but at least it got here. Since SLKfans is just doing this as a favor to others, I just wanted to express my thanks.

As to the install ... EXTREMELY easy.

I couldn't agree more. I couldn't live without my sprintboosters. Give it a few weeks when you're good and used to it then take it out then drive around, you'll think your car is broke. It's night and day.

Good to see you guys enjoying your SLK's, may I ask how much did it cost you and are there instructions online for installation procedure?

Since my SLK55 is modded, I would like to install the Sprint Booster to make the car in aggressive mode.

thank you in advance.

mileage

To be honest I buy 100 octane gas ... I'm not really worried about mileage. I'd assume it has gotten worse though!

It was less than 300 dollars ... install was use a 10 mm socket remove and replace wire ... put back. It took less than 10 mins. Of which most of that was just the removal of the bolt.

I've thought about this upgrade but have a major concern.

Once in awhile, I swap cars with the wife. Does this thing make it too touchy? I would hate for her to smash into another car when simply trying to park, etc. How about wet conditions?

Again, I'm not worried about me since I'll be used to it... but for my wife that rarely drives it.

Wifey

yeah its a touch more sensitive and I was losing traction going in reverse a couple times! But it really isn't THAT bad. Its like going from an E320 to a 1999 E55.

I know you have concerns about the wife driving it ... but to not allow yourself this mod because of her ... . DO IT.

I've been driving it a bit more now and its been raining. I haven't had problems (even with R compound tires) driving smoothly or slowly.

It is absolutely amazing what this mod has done.

Sorry stupid question... But where are you installing this? Does it have anything to do with the ECU? Is there a DIY somewhere? Im deff going to order one I hate the slow response once I get done driving in traffic through SF.

Thanks!

There are three Sprint boosters left from the extended group buy. Is waiting a week, doing a 5 minute install worth $100 to you? If so then I would get the $250 GB SB. If you can't wait and the $100 is no loss to you then be sure you are getting the newer AMG version. Model #: BDD451A2

SLK55R,

No worries, you are welcome.

My sincere apologies for it has taken quite a fair bit of time. Glad you understand the entire process flow especially the slips here and there.

At least for now, I keep sufficient buffer of sprint boosters so that I can ship them immediately, this is a better workaround to avoid any slips in the near future.

By the way, it is $250, ready to ship

You have fun !

Cheers !

Sorry to say that you have lost reputation to several people on this board that I read, not so much as restocking, but not responding to email requests. I hate that myself. I'm sure you do too, if you were buying, even from a friend.

the Sprintbooster is definitely a good upgrade as is performance software which also improves throttle response.

Glad to see you're enjoying your purchase!!

I bought sprint booster a week ago and it is a must for R171 like smarttop module. My car is a humble 200 Komp, I can not imagine a 55 AMG with SB. It must be a real monster

Just received my Sprint Booster...

... and I really can feel the difference. I realize this won't affect my top end, but it really helps off the line. Modulating the throttle is easy enough and the response is definately improved. I'd say $300 well spent. Installation is a no brainer.

Went to the dealer ship... now are they just trying to scare me or what? This woman claimed that if I put a sprint booster in that it would void the warrantee???

I don't see how. You're not modifying the engine or power output and not changing any system in the car. It's no different than putting rims on the car. It's just a look and feel kind of thing.
