Performance Packages option on Slk55

Mate - If you can afford it ... GO for it...The wheels etc have drawn more attention to my car than any other single item. Don't go by the piccies in the brouchures...check one out in the flesh!
If I'd have ordered my car without this option (and later realised what I'd missed out on) I'b be RPO!
Having said all this, you could consider purchasing the wheels separately (although, I didn't realise this and on reflection this may not be cost effective given the differential set against losing the other bits in the Perf Pack too)
Keep us informed on your decision....

MB (AMG) Fact: They say only 2% of all SLK55's leave the factory with the Performance Pack fitted .. Now that makes them few VERY Extra Special!

Looking for a new toy.
If you're considering a new 2008, there's an even bigger reason to opt for the 030 package as MB/AMG (in their infinite wisdome ) have downgraded the SLK55's standard brakes to those found on the SLK350. Get the 030 and you now get a big upgrade in braking.

It's funny the biggest drawback of the performance package is the wheels. Those wheels are MUCH heavier than the standard SLK55 wheels. Those heavy wheels rob power making your performance package SLK 55 perform less than a regular SLK 55. Quite the contradiction that performance package is. The brakes and other items are nice though.
