Curious - what octane is available in Europe at the pump (ie Denmark/Sweden/Germany region)? Here in the US, you can buy 94 Octane (Sunoco), but not in California where only 91 octane is available (unless you buy 100 octane (race gas) - available at some pump stations...or 116 at the race track for cars running high boost turbo applications). Just curious - I have not been to that area in a while (northeast Europe) & was wondering what you can buy at the pump.
Dan my man, 535 Hp is HUGE power - especially with a 7 Spd tranny. Unless you run more blower boost w/higher octane, 535 Hp is pretty much the limit (and useless below 70 mph due to traction issues unless you run DRs, or maybe some R compound).

In Scandinavia we have E85 (85% Ethanol + 15% petrol) - this petrol is very nice for modded cars, 1 Koenigsegg run with this fuel 1000-1200 hp, then we have 95, 98, 99 (Shell V-Max), in Germany they offer 100 oktan and something called 100+ at their ARAL-stations and Shell, I can tell u that it makes a hell of a difference, the sound from the engine turns to more aggressive, and im sure that it will add a lot of hp and torque, u can really feel it
True about the power, below 60-70 mph, its quite hard to get any traction at all.
I will post pics of my new wheels and frontlip when its ready.

Interesting about what you said about Shell.....they offer the 100 octane here at the pump (but you must look for these stations as they are very rare). It's nice you have 95, 98, & 99 octane there....you don't have to "mix".Originally Posted by SLK 55 Kleemann

Pls do post the rims/tires pics when you have the chance (and the spoiler lip). I like the Kleemann lip too, but will scrape it - no matter how careful we are so I have not bought it (heck, I've even scraped the bottom of the stock air dam just a bit....that kinda sucked but....oh well - no big deal I guess).

I've read of some estimates that show the 7G tranny has pretty low drivetrain loss for an automatic, something to the tune of 13%...Originally Posted by Yellow R1
Kleemann's dyno's reverse calculate horsepower at the flywheel, not the rear wheels. Your SLK is likely putting down ~ 435 - 455 rwhp (assumes 15 - 19% drivetrain loss).
I cannot vouch for the validity of those claims however.

Im a bit curious on your SLK - what mods do u have? I asked Claus Ankjaer at Kleemann about S8, and he said no, thats not for the SLK 55 - its called K4 when u have all the mods available for SLK 55, I have so far - Kompressor, Headers, EMS, Cams, LSD-diff, and soon the exhaustsystem. Original 11:1 and 0,4 bar.Originally Posted by Yellow R1

hmm... You're also supposed to be able to get titanium valves and springs, or something like that.
That would make it:
Headers
Rest of exhaust
Kompressor
Camshaft
Springs
Valves
ECU
At least it's what Kleemann quoted me in their e-mail... (the LSD is not a 'power' mod, just helps you get the power to the ground better).
When the ~600hp SLK was 'released' by Kleemann, it was called the S8:
http://www.rsportscars.com/eng/cars/...n_slk55ks8.asp
But on Kleemann's website, they've changed it to S4:
http://www.kleemann.dk/site/Main/thecars/slkr171
Also, Kleemanns website used to have a more comprehensive list on this page:
http://www.kleemann.dk/site/Main/eng...es/nav8engines
But it truly seems like they've cut back from the 596hp claims, and gone down to 540hp with Stage 4 being the final one with ECU + Kompressor + Headers + Complete Exhaust + Camshaft.
I wonder what happened to the rest of the stuff... (they mention that the camshafts come with stronger valve springs, probably it's all part of the package).

Probably they had to cut back due to emissions...
The article about the S8 said that the Kompressor pushed power up to 550hp alone. But others said that it only gives about 500hp.
I also heard that the original headers were a tight fit and Kleemann made new ones which were a little smaller (and thus more restrictive). The original numbers from headers should have given 30hp, whilst new ones only give 20hp (allegedly... I have no way to confirm this, just stuff I read).
But I'm guessing the original figure indeed was nearly 600hp. Circumstances made Kleemann cut back (probably a good thing too, since the torque is a more manageable 700nm, a figure the gearbox should be able to take, which in the S8 went over the recommended amount).

Yes I know that about the LSD....Originally Posted by Shinigami

I asked Claus Ankjaer about the S8 and he told me that it was something a Journalist got wrong, they never had 596 hp in the SLK, its possible in other engines, but the harm was done when this magazine published the figures. The SLK with all options is a K4, and then we are talking about 540-550 hp and 750-770 Nm. The EMS handles the gearbox.

It "used" to be called S8 (not K4), at least here in the US. My car obtained the "last" of the bigger Kleemann Headers & I'm running .5 bar (a higher boost level). I also do not have the EMS which retards power a bit during shift points as there was no such thing back in 2005 (that would not likely affect dyno output anyway - just thought I'd mention it as people have discussed it in this thread). I guess my SLK is "old school", but I have had no tranny issues thus far.Originally Posted by SLK 55 Kleemann

Remember though, octane numbers are reported differently in Europe than North America. Here pump octane is RON+MON (research octane + motor octane; RON being a higher number than MON)/2. In Europe they report RON only. Our 91 pump octane is roughly equivalen to their 96.Originally Posted by Yellow R1

I know with previous cars, whenever I've purchased cam "kits", new (stronger) springs have been included in the package as stock springs are unsuitable for the higher cam lift/ramp speed of the new cam.Originally Posted by Shinigami
