Question on Removing Air Box to Change Air Filters

In the past several members here have posted instructions on changing the engine air filters. I'm changing mine today for the first time at 34K miles. My car has something that no one else mentioned. There's a hose that starts at the battery box and is clipped to the rear of the airbox. Looks like it's clipped to the rear of the air box solely as an effort to correctly route the hose and to keep the hose in place...does not appear to have anything to do with the airbox. The complication is that to completely remove the airbox from the car it appears I'm going to have to break the clip holding the hose to the airbox. It's probably no big deal, but what did everyone else do with this issue? Also, I'm curious, does anyone know what the hose is used for?

One other note...on my car the screw heads for removing the air filter covers are T25, not T20 as others in the past have found.

Cut the clip and replace it. Standard protocol. The clip is for the exact reason you mentioned. No problems.

I actually used a thin blade to open the clip cable and then used the same cable to put it back in place. If you look at it closely, you might see what I mean.
