BMCs for me, please.

How do you like your Sprint Booster? Is the throttle response much quicker? Worth it? Easy install? Doesn't add any power, just response, right? Saw it on eBay and the CLS forum...
Never driven an SLK55, but my C43 doesn't have the nicest throttle response.
I wouldn't want to drive it without the sprintbooster. Night and day difference. Worth every penny.

The last time I opened my airbox, I noticed the rubber seal starting to seperate. Is that what you speak of? I think I'll try BMC next.

As far as I know the SLK55BS has modified airbox with sport air filter. Will I go one step backward if I go for the Renntech + Green Filter solution??

By the way, Supersprint system installed, I hope to get some photo online soon!!

The rubber seal/lip that held it in the box had become so soft that it could not support the weight of the filter. Part of it tore and the filter had fallen down inside to the bottom of the box, this was on both filters.

I suspect mine may have done that by now. Last time I checked, it looked like it wasn't going to last much longer.

Question: How much did the BMC filters cost? Where did you get them?

SLK BLK,
Yes, do get some pics and a sound byte. I'd love to see/hear that thing.

I don't know where to get them, maybe even BMC's site, but they shouldn't be more than $80/each. I know the M3 filter is $70 shipped. A filter is a filter - more effort can go into it but how much? Materials are about the same...

PM Adam, the one who started this thread for the BMC's. That's where I got mine. Remember you need 2 filters. They were $165 shipped if I recall.

The green filters are good because I was hearing many members satisfied with the out put and noise of the car, it sounds much throatier after the install and adds 9hp for a decent price. At the end of the day, I think its a reasonably in expensive product that lasts longer than the oem filters and has longer service intervals. The build quality is higher from the cost cutting mb filters that are used on the non amg engine's such as the 500.

Hey Mohammed,
Why did you opt for just the X-pipe? How did it change the sound? Any power? Cost?

Cheers from 6speedonline.

1) Doesnt lose the torque
2) sounds better
3) not obnoxiously loud like the straight pipes but still sounds Mean
4) Gained in power but I really felt it from the low-to mid range rpm levels.
Cost not sure but the installation, labour, shipping& handling + the Kleemann cats and X pipe costed less than 1,750 if I am not mistaken.

By the way thats a rough estimate.

Touche', I agree this combination is relatively in expensive when compared to the full SS exhaust or the Kleemann full system.

FYI for those concerned about the Green filters. New thread in E55 section. Lots of people have melted Greens. It's not just a fairy tale.

I read the thread. holy smokes. I just ordered a set of green filters from SLK World and now I'm worried. I'm not gonna spend time checking these filters. That is insane. Either they work or they don't. I may return them. I don't know what to do now...great.

I wouldn't worry about it, there are a lot of people with them but only a handful that's complaining so it doesn't bother me at all. It's good practice to clean it out every six months, it gets very filthy in there and only take 10 minutes of your time. Green has a good return policy so if you are not satisfied, you can return it but I wouldn't bother.

I posted my concern on SLK World. Bill told me it was a problem with one batch. They used to be made in Europe but now they are made in the U.S.A. and everything is fine. I had planned to have it installed but most here make it sound like a piece of cake to do it yourself. Every 6 months to clean is frequent. They must really trap everything. I'm too lazy to clean them. I'll probably just install new ones....thanks for your feedback.

That's a waste of money to replace them all the time, whether it's OEM, Greens, K&N, or BMC, you will still need to clean them, all you need to do is take them out, tap them a couple of times for all the dirt to come out and put it back in.

I decided to check on mine today

I called Green Filters and they're sending replacements and a cleaner free of charge. Good service, questionable product. I hope the replacements are a better design. I'm glad this thread got my attention.

BTW, I think I have about 10k on these filters and cleaned them about 6k ago.

Filters starting to seperate:

Pulled out from airbox and tore apart!

What's inside?

What came out?
