So if brabus, kleeman achieve more power from changing camshaft, headers,

Why would no te company do hat from the begining.

Because they are trying to make cars for the average person, in the average market. They take into account available fuels, roads and conditions and come up with a set up that will work best in the most markets.

That is why these companies and us are able to fine tune the cars for more power.

yeah, its about offering a product that appeals to the most potential buyers, and not just the top 1/2 percent.

Cost is also a huge issue. They don't manufacture these parts themselves but buy from suppliers and the best possible parts would be too expensive, making it impossible to achieve price targets.

They do !! Take the 1st generation AMG 5.4 engine started out just with 349 hp, then 362 hp (with same displacement) then 382 hp (with same displacement but AMG does not build it in house) and then the 400 hp on the Slk 55 Black series (with the same displacement but with high compression ratio and difference cams build by AMG).
