Poss. selling my SLK.....Help
Guys.....I may sell my SLK for new ride (don't know yet what). I need your help. I don't want to be screwed with dealers so IF I sell it independently:
a) What is a reasonable asking price?
b) What price should I feel OK to seel it for?
If I go with dealer trade in:
a) What should I be asking for ?
b) what should I expect to get as an OK/GOOD deal?
Please, take into consideration the options listed bellow.
Miles: 24498
Much appreciated

SLK55///AMG The MONSTER on the block
Now is a tough time to be selling anything, tough economy and winter months. Other's selling their SLKs are taking a beating. Do some research, check eBay and get an idea of what similiar SLKs are selling for. Determine what you'll accept and then decide. Traditionally, you'll always lose when trading, but trading through a MB dealer might(?) be best depending on their sales motivation. Throw traditional wisdom out the window. Good luck.

Most dealers will undoubtedly screw you on a trade. They generally don't resale, especially in these times. They simply wholesale it. Depending on condition and mileage, they are pulling 32-42 at auction. It's a hit and miss thing right now. The good, the SLK AMG is a rare car, so if there is a buyer for it, you could get a good deal. Hopefully the dealer you are going to is strapped for sales and may be willing to give a great deal on a new one and ok on the trade. Remember, on trade you are saving your sales tax rate on the old, so 35 trade is really like getting 37,450 at 7% tax rate. Set your price of what your willing to spend with your car, stay firm, and don't be afraid to walk. They'll probably still call you within a day or two with the current market.
