Question about SLK55 Brakes

Hi All,

Just had a nit picky question about the SLK55's brakes. A friend of mine has an 06 SLK55 and he has large brakes on front which appear to be 6-piston brakes, however when I was at the dealership a couple of days I go I was looking over an 09 and it had what appeared to be 4-piston brakes. Is there a reason why AMG downgraded the brakes, if thats actually what they did. Just curious, appreciate all input.

they have in fact been downgraded from 6 to 4 piston calipers. i believe only the newer slk55's with p30 package have the 6 pistons brakes. someone correct me if i'm wrong.

yes

that is confirmed for the US. I can't speak for RoW.

The "reason" was squeaking or something from the brakes. Which I think is complete bs.

Same thing for RoW, squeaking is complete bs its cutting costs especially with the downturn in the economy.
