SLK55 Third Brake Light

SLK55 owners;

I have a very interesting question to ask, and I was hoping someone would be able to help me. I'm wondering if there are any members that would be a good samaritan and help me measure the length and height of the AMG's third brake light. I really like how the SLK55's brake light is grey when unlit, and was hoping if it measure to be the same as my w203s. It would be, imo, a absolutely amazing mod!

I know this is going to be a long shot, but it would be better if a member could actually take their trunk apart and photograph the connectors for the third brake light itself. If it is similar to my car, I'd order the second I find out.

Again, I know this is a big request, but I was hoping some member would try and help me out! Thanks in advance!

just checked it op the EPC parts program,

slk 3rd brake is A1718200556 (for amg)

c32 3rd brake is A2038201456

so basicly, its already a different parts number, wich means chanches are very little that it will fit...

lepez,

I took that into consideration, as I was also checking out part numbers. But I was hoping some parts would be interchangeable between the Mercedes families, similar to some suspension components are swappable between the 203 and 209 and such. There's even a chance to use the G class Comand in the 203! I mean, it's just a brake light, right?

Lol, I was just hoping since it's something that isn't too technologically advance, there would be a chance for it to fit. Right now, I'm just wondering if the two brake lights are similar in size, and if possible, if it reuses the same connects. If it doesn't, it wouldn't be too hard to splice it and attach like so.

Seems like a good question.

Suggestion, could you find a regular SLK to measure its brake light? I guess I could try to measure mine for you sometime. I always intended to replace my SLK's brake light with the 55's grey one, and I know for a fact this has been done.

I'll try to keep you posted.

What is the measure of yours as it would be easy for me to see if the measures are way off that way?

Thanks for your response. I'll try to get measurements of my brake light. The thing is, I don't know anyone with an SLK, or else I wouldn't even ask this question. And it wouldn't seem right if I was to walk up to a random SLK with a measuring tape roll and such, right? LOL. Let me know.

If they are interchangeable, they have the same part number.

The red (non-AMG) light for SLKs has a 171 part number, too.

Not true, I've used G class parts (with a completely different part number) in my vehicle - plug and play, perfect fit. Including a comand unit with additional features.
