Somewhat expected, although, I was hoping they would give it more of a bump than that. Disappointing? Time will tell. Perhaps it'll be lighter than the outgoing model so we'll see. Or, perhaps AMG held back a bit so they can offer a performance package similar to what they're doing with other AMG models? Lets see, how about 451HP, limited slip diff, "performance" breaks etc? Sounds good to me! Motor Authority is reporting an output of 422 horsepower at 6,800 rpm and 398 pound-feet of torque at 4,500 rpm:

Anybody else here note the impressive fuel economy figures?

Either way, I'm looking forward to getting more information and seeing the press pictures when it comes out as I'm sure it will look like a beast

On a related note, I wonder if the mad scientists at Kleemann, Renntech and perhaps Weistec will develop a a supercharger for this engine? I wonder how much more difficult this would be (if any) with the cylinder deactivation feature found here? I guess there's always the possibility of a turbo retrofit also, although, physical space might be a limiting factor here..

2005 C55
32 combined mpg is imperessive, It's hard to fine a car with more power than my C55 and better gas mileage, all I found was a ISF. I hope it's under 3,500 pounds.

AMG
I always said you could get 30mpg+ and 400+HP out of the AMG 5.5Ls ...

It was harder to do on the m113s but it was possible. I wouldn't be surprised if you can squeeze out another 30HP on top of stock numbers.
