thinking SLK55
Hey guys, I own a C32 at the moment and I was looking to aquire a new AMG. My choice is between a 2009 and up C63 or a 2006 SLK55. The thought of a V8 in a roadster sounds very nice. I read the Car and driver review on it and it said only good things about the SLK55. If i do get a SLK55 its gonna be the toy car which means i'm gonna be modding it. Are these cars capable of running a 11 second 1/4 mile with simple boltons? I guess what I'm asking is, is it worth modding this car? lol Or should I just go with the C63?
Thanks
Thanks

The only "bolt on" that might get you into the low 12s would be a Kleeman or Renntech blower. Look at spending around 10gs though. I like the SLK55s and would definitely consider one if I was you. Add a supercharger and you're looking at a very fun and quick roadster...

You say low 12's, I thought these cars ran 12.8 stock, which would lead me to think that they would do high 11's with a blower...

Here's a good example of what a supercharged C55 AMG sedan (same engine as the SLK55) is capable of "At the test track, the 55S8 thundered to 60 in just 3.8 seconds and through the quarter-mile in only 12.2 at 117.". Now, keep in mind the C55 is heavier than the SLK55 but you get the idea. Here's the link to the full article: http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...specialty-file

high to mid 11s is def possible with semi slicks with /SC..
Due to short gearing, I believe mid 12s may be possible if you launch it right with proper tires..
Def fun car and overall, very reliable!
