Posted this on the PL, but thought I would post it here. When I start my SLK55 after it's been sitting for an hour or so there's a loud tapping/rattle/something noise. It's quite loud. The dealer has replaced exhaust clamps and now timing chain tensioners, yet the noise remains.

Anyone with a R172 SLK55 hear anything similar when they start it up? Any ideas what might be causing it?

run a bottle or two of chevron techron and do some italian tuning.

those motors just like the "old" ones carbonize very easily if not driven hard.

She's brand new, broken in at the dragstrip, and never goes below 3k rpm. I think I've driven it pretty hard.

The issue has been referred to engineering in Germany now and am waiting to hear back from them.
